New York (WABC) – It is a year for the elections, but some big races are always at the pressure. Among them, New York will choose a mayor, and New Jersey will eliminate a new governor in 2025.
Here’s how New York, New Jersey and Connecticut residents can register to vote.
How to register to vote in New York
First of all, in New York, you can register to vote online, in person or by mail.
Important note: Friday, February 14, 2025 is the statutory deadline for an election council to receive a change in registration for parties for this year’s primaries. Any change in registration received after this deadline will only be effective after the June primary.

Registration by mail
An election council must receive requests no later than June 14, 2025 to be eligible to vote in the primary elections.
Recording in person
You can register for your local board of directors or to any state agency participating in the National Voters Registration Act, one working day throughout the year, but, to be eligible to vote in the primary elections, your request must be received no later than June 14, 2025.

An election council must receive requests no later than October 25, 2025 to be eligible to vote in the general elections.
Recording in person
You can register for your local election council or to any state agency participating in the national law on the registration of voters, the working day throughout the year, but, to be eligible to vote in the elections General, your request must be received no later than October 25, 2025.
There are several Ways to vote in New York StateIncluding in person and anticipated vote. Voting by an absent or military vote and abroad must meet specific deadlines by election.

The early voting period for the primary is Saturday, June 14, 2025 – Sunday June 22, 2025. The day of the primary election is Tuesday, June 24, 2025.
The early voting period for the general elections is from Saturday October 25 to Sunday November 2, 2025. The day of the ballot is Tuesday, November 4, 2025.

How to register to vote in New Jersey
The deadline for registering voters for primary elections is May 20, 2025. The deadline for recording voters for general elections is October 14, 2025.
To register in New Jersey, you must be:
An American citizen
At least 17 years old, although you cannot vote before you have reached the age of 18
A county resident for 30 days before the elections
A person does not purge an incarceration sentence following a conviction for any accidental offense under the laws of this state or another or the United States.
The holder must complete a request to register voters and / or an affiliation form of the party. Send or return the request to register voters and / or the party affiliation form to Registration county commissioner or election superintendent for your county.
Residents can also submit their request to Vote on the voters portal in New Jersey.
You are not eligible to register to vote if:
You pose an incarceration sentence due to a conviction for an essential offense under the laws of this state or another or the United States.
Primary electoral designates
Each county will provide voters registered with early voting options for the primary elections of 2025. They will designate anticipated voting places in person which will be open on Friday June 6, 2025 – Sunday June 8, 2025 (the anticipated voting period in person) . Opening hours will be Friday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., no meeting is necessary.
June 6 – Deadline for requesting for voting by mail of elections by electronic means for civil and military voters abroad qualified
June 9 – 3 p.m. – Deadline for requests for voting by mail in person; Deadline for not affiliated voters to submit forms for declaring political parties and receiving a ballot.
June 10 – 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. – Primary election day
General electoral designs
The early voting period is from October 25 to November 2, 2025.
October 28 – Deadline to request a voting bulletin by mail for general elections
October 31 – Deadline for foreign civilian and military voters to request an electronic bulletin
November 3 – 3 p.m. – Deadline for postal messaging requests in person
November 4 – 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. – General election day

How to register to vote in Connecticut
Registration times vary for primary elections because they are held on different dates. Information is available on the Connecticut office website for the Secretary of State.
Friday, October 17, 2025 is the deadline for recording voters of the general elections in Connecticut by mail or online.
If you are not registered but you want to vote during the early voting period, you can register in person every day of early voting instead of early voting. The early voting period is from October 20 to November 2, 2025.
If you are not registered but you want to vote on the ballot day, you can register in person on the day of the ballot (November 4, 2025) on your recording site on the ballot day.
