Methodology
The latest national results on questions relating to first choice, second choice and the hypothetical general election in the 2024 Republican presidential primary reflect surveys conducted December 1-3, 2023. First and second choice results reflect responses from 3,526 potential voters in the Republican primary. . Our sample of likely Republican primary voters includes all registered voters who said they planned to vote in their state’s 2024 Republican presidential primary or caucus.
Potential Republican primary voters who initially said they did not know or had no opinion on which candidate they were considering voting for were asked to choose the candidate they were leaning toward. Results reflecting support for each candidate in the 2024 Republican primary include responses from these “leaners.”
The results reported by Morning Consult on the candidate preference and buzz questions reflect data collected weekly from approximately 800 likely Republican primary voters. For more information on our 2024 methodology, see here.
