President-elect Donald Trump won Arizona on Saturday, November 9, returning the state and its 11 electoral votes to the Republican column after Joe Biden’s victory in 2020. This final result completes the Republican sweep of the seven swing states.
Trump’s victory against Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris, marks his second in Arizona since 2016. Trump campaigned on border security and the economy, linking Harris to inflation and recording illegal border crossings during Trump’s administration. Biden.
Trump’s victory dims the hopes of Arizona Democrats, who were looking to continue their rise, which began with the 2018 flip of a longtime GOP-held Senate seat and continued into 2020 and 2022. Biden was the second Democrat to win Arizona in 70 years.
