A New Yougov Survey notes that the results of the 2024 elections have many Americans reflecting differently on many aspects of their lives, including where they want to live, their health care and their finances.
44% of Americans claim that the results of the 2024 elections influenced their consumption of news, against 36% which said it at the end of November, according to A Yougov survey led at the time. 38% say that the results of the 2024 elections influenced their purchasing decision – against 28% which declared this in November 2024 – and 32% say that the election results influenced their investments or their savings. Other aspects of life which, according to many, have been influenced by the results of the presidential election: level of political activism (30%), health care decisions (29%) and in which country they want to live (29%).
Women are more likely than men to say that almost all 18 aspects of life requested in the survey have been influenced by the results of the presidential election. Among the largest gaps between women and men: 48% of women and 39% of men say that election results have influenced their consumption of news. 26% of women and 18% of men say that the results have influenced their travel plans. 16% of women and 8% of men say that the results have influenced their sex life or contraceptive decisions.
Adults under the age of 30 are more likely than older Americans to say that election results have influenced if they plan to vote in future elections (34% against 25%), decisions on SI or when having children (25% against 8%) and education decisions (24% against 12%).
Democrats are more likely that Republicans say that election results have influenced their behavior. Among the largest gaps: 48% of Democrats and 21% of Republicans claim that the results of the elections have influenced their level of political activism. 44% of Democrats and 17% of Republicans claim that the results have influenced their use of social media. And 44% of Democrats and 19% of Republicans say that the results influenced in which country they wanted to live.
More democrats say that the results of the 2024 elections influenced their decisions about the end of November. The highest increase concerns the share of democrats who say that election results affected their purchasing decisions (51% in February 2025 against 33% in November 2024). Other notable increases include actions that say that election results have influenced their travel plans (35% against 17%) and their levels of political activism (48% against 33%).

Methodology: This article includes the results of an online survey conducted from February 5 to 8, 2025 among 1,131 American adult citizens. Respondents were selected in the Opt-In yougov panel to be representative of adult American citizens. The sample was balanced according to sex, age, race, education, presidential vote of 2024, the rate of electoral participation in 2020 and the presidential vote, of the identification of the parties of base and registration status of current voters. 2024 The presidential vote, at the time of weighting, was estimated at 48% Harris and 50% Trump. Demographic weighting objectives come from the American Community Survey 2019. The basic identification of the party is the most recent response of the respondent data around November 8, 2024 and is weighted to the estimated distribution at the time (31% democratic , 32% republican). The margin of error for the overall sample is approximately 4%.
