It was a good night for Democrats.
At least according to the betting odds for the 2024 election, with Vice President Kamala Harris pulling ahead of former President Donald Trump early Wednesday, hours after the two men engaged in their first and likely only one debate.
After running neck and neck with Trump, Harris now leads in every poll, according to realclearpolling.com.

Harris has a 51.8 percent chance of becoming president in the November election, compared to Trump’s 46.9 percent. Those numbers are different from last week’s, when the two candidates were virtually tied.

- Betfair gives Harris a 50% chance and Trump a 45% chance.
- Betsson and Bovada both give Harris a 52% chance. Betsson gives Trump a 48% chance, while Bovada gives him a 49% chance.
- Bwin gives Harris a 53% chance and Trump a 47% chance.
- Polymarket has a tight race: Harris is at 48% and Trump at 47%.
- The Points and Predictit bets each give Harris a 54% chance of winning, compared to 46% for Trump.
- Smarkets gives Harris the lead, 51% to 46%.
- Harris is also the favorite on the 538 polling site, which uses polling, economic and demographic data to study likely election outcomes. The site gives Harris a 56 percent chance of winning, compared to Trump’s 44 percent.
Harris has had the lead before, but this is her biggest lead yet, and it comes after the two women met in Philadelphia for their first debate. Harris’s chances of winning the election have increased by 4.5 percentage points over the past day, while Trump’s have fallen by 4%, according to Forbes.
The debate wasn’t the only thing that could have impacted the betting odds.
Pop star Taylor Swift officially endorsed Harris last night after the debate.
