The legislators have discussed Senate bills 100 and 102 today.
SB 100 would establish provisions governing the electoral tasks to be done in a timely manner as well as sanctions for those who do not.
SB 102 would prohibit a person from knowingly creating fraudulent documents and to create or serve fraudulent voters.
You may remember our reports last November on the number of votes 2024. The Nevada did not call the presidential elections and the race for the United States only four days after election day.
However, many people compete for the two bills of the Senate by saying that there are already hundreds of laws holding strict deadlines and a process for the election and the addition of it seems useless.
Shawn Meehan, resident of Minden, says: “The Secretary of State, they had things they do during the elections; they must be in parachuting when there is a problem. I just think that it creates a more structure Large, a greater law when it is just “required.
Penny Brock, resident of Reno, said: “This has to do with the choice of voters during a presidential year, which should be left to political parties and not to the State.”
Senator Richard Daly, (d) District 13, says: “There is a process, a failure to ensure that this happens and this is where the Secretary of State could intervene and exercise these functions.”
Senator Richard Daly said at the moment, there is no safe failure for Nevada. If something happens during the elections, it would be necessary to go to court, which could become a much longer process.
Regarding the next steps, Senator Daly says that SB 100 will be revised and that they will try to mitigate some of these concerns. And SB 102 can be planned for a work session and go to the Senate forum.
