Amid a raging diplomatic standoff between India and Canada over the killing of alleged Khalistani operative Hardeep Singh Nijjar, Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar addressed the United Nations General Assembly United on September 26. In a comment apparently aimed at Ottawa, the Indian minister said political expediency cannot dictate responses to terrorism. Jaishankar also said that a few countries cannot continue to set the global agenda and expect other nations to follow silently.
