Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has resigned and fled the country as anti-government protesters stormed her official residence in the capital Dhaka. Student leaders have launched a civil disobedience campaign to demand that the country’s longtime leader step down. On Sunday, at least 90 people were killed and hundreds injured in clashes between police and tens of thousands of anti-government protesters. The UN called for an end to the “shocking violence” and urged Bangladesh’s politicians and security forces to exercise restraint.
