President Joe Biden and first lady Jill Biden arrived in Nantucket Tuesday evening for their Thanksgiving holiday, where they will mark the holiday and celebrate the president’s 81st birthday with family.
Six of their seven grandchildren are expected to join them on the island, where they will take over billionaire businessman-turned-philanthropist David Rubenstein’s $34 million waterfront resort for the third year in a row.
The White House officially confirmed that “his friend” Rubenstein was hosting them for the long holiday weekend as Air Force One landed.
Retirement will give Biden a break survey after survey which spells bad news for his chances of being re-elected next year.
Preparations on the island have been underway for days for the arrival of the Biden family.

The Biden clan is once again taking over billionaire-turned-philanthropist David Rubenstein’s $34 million Nantucket resort for the president’s third Thanksgiving while in office.
The lights of President Joe Biden’s motorcade reflected on the tarmac at Joint Base Andrews Tuesday evening as he and first lady Jill Biden fled from Washington to Nantucket for the Thanksgiving holiday.
Large military cargo planes have been landing at the island’s airport for a week, carrying the equipment needed to secure the president’s stay.
On Monday, a fleet of Massachusetts State police motorcycles and SUVs left the ferry and headed toward the town’s main street to be available for Biden’s visit. About 20 to 30 motorcycles left the boat, as well as an ambulance and a dozen police cars.
Hundreds of people follow the president everywhere he goes: Secret Service agents, support staff and members of the military.
They will lock down the area around Rubenstein’s 13,000 square foot home while the Bidens are at the residence.
The first couple will be joined by the majority of their grandchildren: Naomi Biden and her husband Peter Neal, Finnegan, Maisy, Natalie, Little Hunter and Baby Beau.
Only Baby Beau – and his parents Hunter Biden and Melissa Cohen — joined the first family during last year’s Thanksgiving festivities.
First daughter Ashley Biden also made the trip to Nantucket last year.
This year, the whole clan will be present to celebrate the festival.
They will spend Wednesday celebrating President Biden’s 81st birthday, which is Monday, marking the occasion with coconut cake.

On Thursday, they will enjoy Thanksgiving dinner at the $34 million home and they will also call military families to thank them for their service.
The meal is usually prepared at Faregrounds restaurant, where signed photos of Biden adorn the walls.
On Fridays, the family usually goes into town for lunch, shopping, and lighting the Christmas TREE.
On Saturdays, President Biden usually goes to church. On Sunday, they will return to Washington, D.C.
It’s unclear if the first family’s dog, Commander, will join them. He was there last year.

But the dog was removed from White House after biting members of the Secret Service.
The Bidens have been going to Nantucket for 48 years, dating back to when Biden was a U.S. senator.
In his 2017 memoir “Promise Me Dad,” Biden wrote that Thanksgiving in 1975 was the first holiday he and his now-wife Jill spent together, traveling to Nantucket with his young sons Beau and Hunter for a little bonding time. .
Since then, they have rarely missed a Nantucket vacation.
The island has become a place of many memories for the family. Beau proposed to his future wife Hallie during the town’s Christmas tree lighting in 2001 and married her in a downtown church.

One of the few Thanksgivings the Bidens missed on Nantucket was in 2015, which took place about six months after Beau Biden’s death.
The family went to Rome. They also didn’t go in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We had some good years during that time, and we had some bad years, but no matter what, no matter what bumps and bruises we suffered, we put it all aside and celebrated Thanksgiving on Nantucket,” the president wrote in his memoir.
“Holiday travel was a constant in our grandchildren’s lives from the moment they knew about it, and they made it clear how much it meant to them.”
While on the island, the Bidens are staying at the 13-acre, $34 million Rubenstein Resort on Nantucket Harbor.
Biden has stayed at Rubenstein’s house on Nantucket before, including in 2014, when he was vice president.

Rubenstein purchased the waterfront property in 2000 for his ex-wife Alice and their three children. He demolished the existing house and built a 13,000-square-foot home with a tennis court, swimming pool, hot tub and private dock.
Zillow estimates rent would cost $30,000 per month.
