Important opinion: Number of modified petition signatures
Following the passage of PL 2025, c. 20, the number of signatures required on a nomination petition has changed. The new number signatures required for an appointment petition will take effect immediately. In addition, “(a) NY petition signatures collected by a candidate to be elected for the primary elections in 2025 using the petition forms published by the Secretary of State before the date of entry of PL 2025 , c. 20. . must not be subject to a petition dispute according to the use of a form published by the Secretary of State before the date of entry into force of PL 2025, c. 20. “
The new number of signatures required for a primary electoral candidate for the Governor’s office is 2,500. For the Office of the General Assembly, the new required number is 250.
The new number of signatures required for a general electoral candidate for the governor’s office is 2,000. For the general meeting office, the new issue required is 250.
