A caretaker government will be formed in Bangladesh after Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina resigns and flees, the army chief has said. Hasina is believed to have flown to India as thousands of protesters marched on her official residence. The student protests began in July with calls for the abolition of civil service job quotas but have escalated into demands for their prime minister to resign after 15 years in power. Nearly 300 people are believed to have been killed in the violence so far.
