We congratulate the Indonesian people for their strong participation in today’s elections. This vote demonstrates the durability and strength of the Indonesian people’s commitment to the democratic process and electoral institutions. We eagerly await the General Election Commission’s announcement of the official election results.
This year, as we celebrate 75 years of diplomatic relations between the United States and Indonesia, we look forward to working with Indonesia’s next president-elect and government, as well as the legislative chambers, on shared priorities that benefit the people of both our countries, including combating climate change, ensuring a prosperous and secure Indo-Pacific, and safeguarding international stability.
The United States and Indonesia are close partners, guided by the principles outlined in our Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. Alongside the new Indonesian administration, we will work to deliver a better future for our citizens and address the most pressing challenges of the 21st century.
