Varanasi: The Pt Deendayal Upadhyaya Chair at the faculty of social sciences, Banaras Hindu University organised a special lecture on ‘Reconstructing Global Politics in the Perspective of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya’, on Thursday.
The session was initiated by the Chair’s coordinator, Prof Tej Pratap Singh, and attended by Binoy Shankar Prasad, professor at McMaster University, Canada.
Presiding over the programme, Virendra Jaiswal, a thinker and social worker, discussed how global politics should be conducted by linking Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya’s principle of integration with episodes from the Ramayana and Mahabharata. Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay talked about the expansion from the individual to the collective, the universe, and the supreme, advocating for establishing global relations on this basis.
During the question-and-answer session, students raised remarkable ideas about the relativity of identity, the effects of manipulation in action, the dilemmas of ancient texts and their contexts, and the various definitions of the word ‘karma’.
Pramod Kumar Gupta, the project officer of the Chair, thanked the guests, faculty members, and students for a successful session. Teachers from all faculties, former dean of the faculty Prof Arvind Kumar Joshi, were present at the programme.
