In what may well be a new record, House Republicans were able to parade around their latest proof of President Joe BidenThe alleged corruption lasted for a few hours on Monday before being bluntly debunked. Earlier Monday, House Oversight Chairman James Comer (R-KY) announced that subpoenaed bank records show Biden received “direct monthly payments” from his son Hunter Bidenprofessional account, including three “recurring payments” of $1,380 at the end of 2018. Except that Joe Biden was not in political office in 2018, The Washington Post and other reporters quickly verified that the $1,380 transfers actually showed Hunter reimbursing his father for a 2018 Ford Raptor truck. (Additionally, the New York Post reported their existence more than a year ago.) Father Lowell, an attorney for Hunter Biden, hit out at the congressman in a statement confirming it. “President Comer is at it again, reheating the old as new in an attempt to revive his mock investigation,” he said. “The truth is that Hunter’s father helped him when he was having financial difficulties due to his addiction and couldn’t get credit to finance a truck. When Hunter was able to do so, he reimbursed his father and took care of the payments himself.
