(NewsNation) — Former business associate – and now critic – of Hunter Biden, Tony Bobulinski, testified behind closed doors before the House Oversight Committee Tuesday.
Bobulinski gave explosive testimony, claiming the Biden family business was President Joe Biden. He claimed the president was an “enabler” in his son’s business dealings, while making millions of dollars and allowing foreign associates access to the then-former vice president.
“Tony Bobulinski testified under oath that Joe Biden was “the brand” the Bidens were selling to enrich the family. Joe Biden not only knew about his family’s dealings with an energy company linked to the Chinese Communist Party, but he also enabled and participated in it,” said the chairman of the House Oversight Committee. James Comer, R-Ky., said.
During testimony, Bobulinski referenced emails that included “the big guy” as well as a time when Joe Biden participated in a business meeting with Chinese investors in 2017.
In his opening statements, he said it was clear the name was being used intentionally.
“Joe Biden knew about the CEFC transaction, permitted it and had a constitutional responsibility and obligation to the American people to shut it down before it began,” Bobulinski said.
Bobulinski, a U.S. Navy veteran, worked with Hunter Biden and James Biden in 2017 to create an investment company called Sinohawk Holdings. The company was to be created to attract a potential Chinese investor: CEFC China Energy.
The reaction to Bobulinski’s testimony was brutal and divided along party lines.
“It’s shocking to me that even though Tony told the truth, there is evidence that Joe Biden and his son Hunter actually met Tony while doing business in China,” said Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R -Ga.
The White House says the president had no influence over his son’s businesses and never profited from them.
“This is basically a jilted potential business partner of Hunter Biden who wanted revenge, essentially because he was angry at being left out of a hypothetical deal,” said Rep. Jamie Raskin, D- Md., the ranking. member of the House Oversight Committee.
NewsNation reached out to Hunter Biden’s attorney for comment but has not yet received a response. The White House declined to comment.
