President Biden and Hunter Biden, disgraced first son attended a private church service and had lunch together Monday to mark the 51st anniversary of the car crash that killed the president’s first wife and first daughter.
Biden, 81, and Hunter, 53, were joined at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church in Brandywine near Wilmington, Del., by first lady Jill Biden, first daughter Ashley Biden and Hunter’s wife, Melissa Cohen, and little Beau.
The family visited the graves of Neilia and Naomi Biden after the mass, then went to a nearby Italian restaurant for a late lunch.
“The President and Hunter Biden are having lunch with friends,” the White House said, without identifying these friends.
The presidential motorcade then took Joe and Hunter Biden shopping at nearby Indulgence Jewelers, according to a pool report.
Hunter and his late brother Beau survived the 1972 crash, and the president frequently brings up the tragedy in his public remarks.
The rally came as the elder Biden seeks a second four-year term in next year’s election – as House Republicans investigate Joe Biden’s role in Hunter and his foreign dealings first brother James during his vice presidency.

The House voted Wednesday to officially authorize the impeachment inquiry to give him additional power to enforce subpoenas shortly after Hunter refused to appear for a deposition and instead gave a defiant five-minute speech in front of the Capitol.
The White House said the president was “familiar” with Hunter plans ahead of time, which could strengthen a charge of obstruction of Congress if articles of impeachment are drawn up.
Republicans say Joe Biden inappropriately furthered the business interests of Hunter and James Biden by meeting with their Chinese, Kazakh, Mexican, Russian and Ukrainian associates, who then allegedly paid the powerful family with little evidence of the services provided.
Democrats say Joe Biden did nothing wrong, and Hunter argued last week that some of his past actions were linked to his addiction to crack cocaine following the death of his brother Beau from brain cancer in 2015.

Joe Biden himself has firmly insisted that he never discussed business. or met foreign partners – despite photos and other documents showing he did so.
In addition to the impeachment investigation, Hunter faces federal criminal charges for firearms violations in Delaware and tax fraud in Los Angeles after walking away from a probation-only plea deal in July following the court requests for assurances of immunity for other past conduct, such as alleged violations of the Foreign Agents Registration Act, that may implicate his father.
