Tom Nichols’ take: A “boring presidency” is exactly what America needs right now. Subscribe to GZERO on YouTube: http://bit.ly/2TxCVnY After four years of President Trump throwing red meat at his base almost every day, President Joe Biden’s first 100 days in office have been pleasantly “boring”. He didn’t go on any morning rants on Twitter and didn’t get into fights with professional sports teams or Mika Brzezinski. That doesn’t mean it hasn’t been busy, though. Since January 20, Biden has issued more executive orders than any president since FDR, including 40 as of mid-April. His administration has already exceeded its (admittedly low) goal of 100 million vaccinations in 100 days, surpassing 200 million. He also secured a record $1.9 trillion stimulus deal through Congress and announced a full troop withdrawal from Afghanistan by September 11, 2021. According to Tom Nichols, international relations expert and contributor from Atlantic is exactly the kind of “boring” America America needs right now. Especially at a time when the country is going through what he calls a “pandemic of narcissism.” Nichols joins Ian Bremmer for a conversation on GZERO World.
