PETA not a fan of the White House rolling chicken eggs at its annual convention Easter egg roll. This is why the animal rights association now recommends the first lady Jill Biden replace “cholesterol bombs” with potatoes.
PETA’s argument against using eggs is that “potatoes are cheaper and healthier than eggs and leave the birds alone,” the nonprofit said in a recent press release .
“Children love animals and would be sad to learn that the eggs used for fun and games at the White House came from tormented chickens whose lives were spent in cages that offered them less space than a sheet of paper. standard writing paper,” said PETA President Ingrid Newkirk. said in the release. “Easter should be a time of renewal and joy for all sentient beings, and that means for chickens too.”
Replacing eggs for the event would appeal to anyone who doesn’t support “dirty factory farms,” the nonprofit said.

PETA writes letter in favor of changing tradition to first lady Jill Biden
The nonprofit sent a letter full of potato puns to first lady Jill Biden on Monday explaining how using eggs is unethical at the annual event.
“I am writing on behalf of (PETA)… to respectfully suggest an attractive way to modernize the White House Easter Egg Roll, one that would be truly inclusive and welcomed by all children who do not eat eggs for religious, cultural, or environmental reasons or because they object to the way in which animals, including chickens whose reproductive systems are exploited for their eggs, are raised and killed in our days,” the letter reads.
PETA’s letter states that the White House’s use of eggs promotes “the harmful industries of factory farming and slaughter,” and that it would therefore be more appropriate to launch the “potato roll White House Annual.
“Easter is not a time of renewal or joy for chickens on egg farms,” the letter reads. “It can take up to 36 hours in typically hellish conditions for a hen – who spends her entire life in a cage smaller than a sheet of letter-sized paper – to produce just one of the thousands of eggs destined to be used in the White Homemade Easter Egg Roll.

PETA highlights the benefits of replacing eggs with potatoes
By replacing eggs with potatoes, the White House would not exploit “any sentient being” but rather encourage “empathy and kindness toward animals while supporting U.S. potato farmers.” according to the PETA letter.
PETA’s letter further encourages the use of potatoes by detailing that they are “the most popular vegetable in the country” and that they are safer to dye, allowing for “spudtacular traditional activities” – including roll them, search them and decorate them.
“You could even organize potato sack races and hot potato games,” the nonprofit’s letter says.
The White House has the opportunity to launch a “new Easter tradition” amid rising egg prices and “worst bird flu epidemic in history,” which led to the slaughter of nearly 82 million birds, PETA’s letter states.
