It looks like the president Joe Biden I had a cool Thanksgiving.
The 46th President of the United States and his family gathered in Nantucket, off Cape Cod, Massachusetts, where they celebrated with the annual “Biden Family Polar Bear Plunge.”
His granddaughter Naomi Biden posted a beach photo of their swim on X (formerly Twitter), showing the president and some of his younger relatives wrapped in towels after taking a dip in the Atlantic Ocean.
Biden, who celebrated his 81st birthday Monday, seemed in good spirits, even though temperatures on the isolated island dropped to 45 degrees.
The Biden family has spent Thanksgiving on the island since 1975, when Joe and Jill Biden spent their first vacation together as a family.
Earlier today, Biden and the first lady sent a message to the Americans of unity during a call for coverage of NBC’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York.
“On this Thanksgiving, we need to come together,” the president told NBC’s Al Roker. “We may have different political opinions, but we have one point of view. Some people think we are the best and greatest nation in the world. We should focus on that.
“We should focus on solving our problems, being together and ending the resentment,” he added. “We need to bring the nation together and treat each other with some decency, and I think that’s where the vast majority of the American people are.”
President Donald TrumpBiden’s likely opponent in the 2024 presidential election, struck a different tone on Thanksgiving post on Truth Social.
“Our country is in great difficulty,” he wrote. “We don’t have any more victories.”
With less than a year until the 2024 election, Trump appears slightly ahead of Biden in the polls. Last weekend, an NBC poll Trump leads with 46% of registered voters, compared to 44% for Biden.
