Nearly six out of ten voters say Joe Biden should accept an invitation to testify before his impeachers, according to our poll — something the president is highly unlikely to do.
57% of American adults say Biden should accept House Speaker James Comer’s request to answer questions about his son. Hunter Biden and the family’s business dealings.
Another 23 percent said the president should not appear, and 19 percent were unsure.
The DailyMail.com/TIPP national poll of 1,432 adults makes for disturbing reading for the White Housewho will almost certainly reject the request to appear on April 16.
The poll is troubling for a White House that has little to gain from a congressional questioning.
James Comer says panel must hear all about ‘Biden crime family’
The invitation was an extraordinary request from a president, who typically appears before Congress only once a year for the State of the Union address.
He will be careful to avoid a potentially embarrassing television moment that could lend credibility to Republican impeachment efforts.
Comer recently said on April 3 that he was still waiting for Biden’s response.
“We have not heard back from President Biden,” he told Fox News.
“But the White House is spending every second of its free time trying to attack me.”
They are “doing everything they can to discredit the investigation and intimidate,” he added.
Kentucky’s Comer insists his investigation “proved the crimes” — even as he refuses to commit to holding a vote to impeach the president.
“We need to hear from Joe Biden because we are now at the point of… accountability,” he said.
Comer sent a fundraising email last month suggesting he would send criminal charges to the Justice Department instead of impeaching the president.
Republican James Comer said President Biden did not respond to an invitation to testify at the Capitol and said the White House is spending every second trying to “attack” and “discredit” him.
This would pave the way for prosecution of the “Biden crime family” once former President Donald Trump wins the November election and takes the reins again in 2025, Comer wrote.
The invitation to testify came after Republicans scoured the bank accounts of the president and his family for evidence of wrongdoing.
More than $24 million flowed from China, Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan and other foreign sources to Biden, his family and their business associatesthey found.
The saga has included testimony from Hunter and the president’s brother, James Biden.
Republicans view the president’s potential testimony as the crown jewel of their investigation.
The Biden administration shows no signs of compliance.
The impeachment saga includes testimony from the president’s son, Hunter Biden, and his brother, James Biden, among others, and Republicans view the president’s potential testimony as the crown jewel of their investigation.
“Comer knows that more than 20 witnesses have testified that POTUS did nothing wrong,” a White House spokesperson said.
“He knows that the hundreds of thousands of pages of documents he received have refuted his false allegations,” Ian Sams wrote.
“This is a sad affair at the end of a deadly impeachment.”
American adults, however, disagree and want transparency on the issue, according to our survey.
A majority of people in all parts of the country and across all age groups say Biden should testify.
Republican voters overwhelmingly want to see the president answer questions, but even 45% of Democrats say he should appear.
Men are slightly more enthusiastic about Biden appearing than women, by a margin of 61 to 54 percent.
The survey has a margin of error of +/-2.7 percent and was conducted earlier this month by TIPP, which has been noted for its accuracy by major American publications.
