Georgescu, powered by a successful Tiktok campaign, marked a surprise victory during the first round of the Romanian presidential election in November – but the vote was then canceled and Georgescu was prohibited from making the initial vote in his favor. Moscow denies the accusations.
Romanian fury has sparked criticism from European democracy, with high-level figures from the United States administration, including the billionaire presidential councilor Elon Musk and vice-president JD Vance, the Fustinite authorities of Bucharest.
The Romanians will go to the polls to vote in the first round of the new presidential election on May 4, with a runoff scheduled for May 18.
