Russia is observing a day of mourning after at least 133 people were killed Friday evening in an attack at a crowded concert hall in Moscow. More than 140 people were also injured when gunmen entered Crocus City Hall, shooting indiscriminately before setting it on fire. The Islamic State (IS) group claims to be behind this attack. In a televised speech on Saturday, Mr Putin condemned the massacre – Russia’s deadliest in almost 20 years – as a “barbaric terrorist act” and reiterated earlier suggestions by Russian security services that the attackers had tried to flee to Ukraine. kyiv rejected the claim that it was somehow involved in the attack, calling it “absurd.” It comes as strikes in Ukraine continue this weekend, with a million people left without power due to the targeting of energy infrastructure.
