Republican legislators win special elections in Florida, while the judge supported by Democrat prevails in Wisconsin.
The President of the United States, Donald Trump, received a mixed dashboard in the state elections that were largely considered as an early test of the popularity of his administration.
Florida Republicans won two special elections on Tuesday for seats in the House of Representatives in the United States, strengthening their legislative majority and supporting Trump’s ability to continue his national program without hindrance.
The victories of Jimmy Patronis and Randy Fine increased the majority of the Republicans to the Chamber to 220 legislators, compared to the Democrats 213.
With most of the voting bulletins recorded late Tuesday, patronis and fine, both of which ran into firmly republican districts, had prevailed on their Democrats, Gay Valimont and Josh Weil, with more than 56% of the vote.
“The two seats of Florida House were won, large, by the republican candidate,” wrote Trump on his social social platform.
“Trump approval, as always, turned out to be much greater than the Democratic forces of evil. Congratulations to America !!!
But in the Wisconsin, Trump suffered a setback after a judge supported by the Democrats was elected to the Supreme Court of Wisconsin despite his cost reduction tsar, Elon Musk, pouring more than $ 21 million in his conservative opponent’s campaign.
With more than 90% of the votes counted, Susan Crawford has comfortably led Brad Schimel with more than 54% of the votes.
The result means that the Higher State Court, which is responsible for key decisions on federal issues related to elections such as the limits of the voting district, will retain its liberal majority 4-3.
“I must tell you – as a growing little girl in Chippewa Falls, I could never have imagined that I would adopt the richest man in the world for justice in the Wisconsin,” said Crawford, judge of the Circuit Court in Dane County, in his victory speech, referring to Musk.
“And we won!”
Musk, who heads the Trump government ministry, had played a disproportionate role in the race, which was by far the most expensive judicial competition in American history.
Musk handed over $ 1 million to two Wisconsin voters on Sunday, Musk on a rally to mobilize support for Schimel in the race, which he described as “important for the future of civilization”.
