Millions of Americans are set to head to the polls on Nov. 3, and after months of campaigning during the coronavirus pandemic, President Donald Trump and Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden will soon learn their fate. Voters in the diverse Texas city of Houston joined their fellow Americans from across the United States Tuesday to cast their ballots for their candidates in one of the most polarizing presidential elections in U.S. history. At one intersection, a small group of Trump supporters spoke into a megaphone as motorists drove by, telling supporters of his rival Biden that a vote for the Democratic Party would be a checkbox for “communism” and that Biden wants to keep them “chained.” Andy Valadez, a Trump voter who says he hasn’t worn a “COVID mask” in eight months, blew an animal horn wrapped in the American flag as others waved giant pro-Trump banners. He said he hopes Trump will make firing one of his top pandemic advisers, Dr. Anthony Fauci, one of the first things he does after the election. Nearby, Nan Parker, a Biden supporter, stood holding Biden signs along the same stretch of road. She said she had just left her gym’s spin class when she saw the Trump supporters and was inspired to rally for her own candidate on Election Day. Long lines were reported by social media users across the United States on Election Day, Nov. 3. Voters and election officials in Lee County, Florida, reported voting machine malfunctions on Election Day. The Lee County Supervisor of Elections reported that electronic scanners across the county were not reading the second page of ballots, according to local reports.
