The United States has deployed a dozen F/A-18 fighter jets to a military base in the Middle East, part of the Pentagon’s efforts to protect Israel from potential attacks by Iran and its affiliates, The Times of Israel reports. According to a US official, the F/A-18 jet and the E-2D Hawkeye reconnaissance aircraft took off from an aircraft carrier in the Gulf of Oman and arrived at an undisclosed base. US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin has ordered an increased military presence in the region amid concerns about escalation in the Middle East following the recent assassinations of a senior Hezbollah commander in Lebanon and the political leader of Hamas in Iran, likely in Israeli strikes. Both groups are known to be backed by Iran. The US Navy deployment is expected to be temporary, with a squadron of F-22 fighter jets en route from their home base in Alaska to the same base. About a dozen F-22s are expected to arrive in the Middle East in the coming days. The Times of Israel reports that it is unclear how long all the planes will remain together at the base, with the duration likely depending on how the situation develops in the coming days. Earlier, Pentagon spokeswoman Sabrina Singh told reporters that Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin “will lead multiple” force movements to provide additional support to Israel and increase protection for U.S. troops in the region. The White House, in a statement, said that President Joe Biden “reaffirmed his commitment to the security of Israel against all threats from Iran, including its proxy terrorist groups Hamas, Hezbollah and the Houthis.” It is currently unclear what form an Iranian attack might take and whether it could be as significant as the April drone and missile attack, which was largely intercepted by Israel and its allies. The United States is doing everything it can to prevent this situation from escalating, White House deputy national security adviser Jon Finer said in an interview with ABC. “What makes the behind-the-scenes messaging and conversations effective is that they have to be private,” Finer told ABC. “So I won’t get into the specifics of the diplomatic activity that’s going on, other than to say that it’s happening in close coordination and collaboration with our Israeli allies and other partners and allies in the region.” » English: http://youtube.com/kanal13az/join – click here and support Kanal13 every month for the distribution of more videos and independent journalism http://t.me/kanal13tv & https://bit.ly/37BVMqU https://www.youtube.com/user/kanal13az?sub_confirmation=1 https://bit.ly/2Rs6MB3 #lastminutenewsfromukraine #kanal13ukraine https://bit.ly/2V19Fdy Click here and subscribe to Kanal13 – https://www.youtube.com/user/kanal13az?sub_confirmation=1 https://www.youtube.com/KANAL13AZ/join *ATTENTION: If you want to contact us, please write to +49176 75077516 WhatsApp ▌▌►Website: http://kanal13.tv/ English: http://www.facebook.com/tvkanal13 https://twitter.com/Kanal13Az https://www.instagram.com/kanal13.az Click and subscribe to the main YouTube channel © KANAL13 (Azərbaycanın ilk peşəkar internet televiziyası) The first Internet television of Azerbaijan Tags: #Ukraine, #Russia, #Putin, #Putin, #Russian invasion of Ukraine, #Zelensky, #Kiev, #Kiev, #Kadirov’s army, #Kadirov, #Kherson, #Bucha, #Kharkiv, #Ukrainian pilots, #Vagners, #Russian tanks, #NATO, #drones, #Moscow, #Kreml, #War victims #Ukraine, News, The Washington Post, WAPO video, Washington Post video, Washington Post YouTube, a:politics, aid, biden, putin, s:Politics, support, t:Other, Ukraine, war, fact-checking, media coverage, Donald Trump, news, wp video, Forbes, Nytimes, newspaper, media, journalism, Ilham Aliyev, Baku, Azerbaijan, Israel, Gaza, Palestine, Tel Aviv, Garabag, Karabakh, football, Ronaldo, Messi, Brian Tyler Cohen
