Turnout in this election is expected to be the highest in a century, and voters are doing everything they can to make their votes count. Waiting in line for hours (even if you are mayor). Vote in person despite the pandemic because you fear your mail-in ballot will be one of the 1.02 million that could be rejected. And vote despite the possibility of someone with a semi-automatic rifle watching you at your polling place. But does voting have to be so…difficult? Not really. Just watch the video above and you will see that it is not like this in other democratic countries around the world. Voting in other democracies is child’s play. And if you’re really lucky, you might win a “democracy sausage.” When we showed voters around the world what American elections look like in practice, they were not impressed. But they were impressed by our resilience and determination. So, while the world’s “oldest democracy” may be a little fragile these days, let’s be clear: go vote! It really is the best way to make a change.
