Notice of withdrawal:
Following the publication of this article, the Daily Caller became aware of additional context that undermined this article’s central claim and its journalistic value. The ban on religious symbolism on eggs in White House Easter egg activities has been around for a long time, dating back decades, and the Biden administration has not made any changes to this rule. Although the appellant at no time explicitly stated that the rule was new, this additional context made the gist of the article misleading to readers, who could reasonably have concluded that the rule was new.
With this additional context included, the news value of the article was significantly diminished, leading the Caller’s senior management to the decision to retract. We sincerely regret this error and are taking the necessary steps to ensure that similar errors can be avoided in the future.
The last version of the article before retraction is archived and available here.
