Tensions are growing at the White House ahead of Thursday morning’s phone call between President Biden and the Israeli prime minister. Benjamin Netanyahuaccording to a recent report.
The call comes after the nonprofit World Central Kitchen (WCK), founded by celebrity chef Jose Andres, announced on Tuesday that it was suspending all operations in Gaza after seven of its aid workers – including a double American and Canadian citizen – were killed by a Israeli airstrike.
The group said its team was “traveling in a conflict-free zone on Monday in two armored cars bearing the WCK logo and a soft-skinned vehicle” in central Gaza when they came under fire, resulting in the death of an American, a Palestinian worker and others from Australia, Poland and the United Kingdom.
Biden administration officials told Axios that the president was “outraged” by the airstrike as a call was expected to take place between the president and Netanyahu on Thursday morning.
“Biden is b—-d,” one official told the outlet. “The temperature regarding Bibi is very high.”
“I think you could sense the frustration in that statement yesterday,” another official told Axios.
White House National Security Council spokesperson Adrienne Watson wrote on quickly investigate what happened.
Fox News Digital contacted the White House for comment, but has not yet received a response.
Biden also spoke out after WCK’s announcement regarding the Israeli airstrike.
“I am outraged and heartbroken by the deaths of seven World Central Kitchen aid workers, including one American, in Gaza yesterday. » Biden wrote in a statement. “They were providing food to starving civilians in the middle of war. They were brave and selfless. Their deaths are a tragedy.”
“More tragically, this is not an isolated incident,” the president added. “This conflict has been one of the worst in recent memory in terms of the number of aid workers killed. This is one of the main reasons why the distribution humanitarian aid in Gaza has been so difficult – because Israel has not done enough to protect aid workers trying to bring desperately needed aid to civilians. Incidents like yesterday simply should not happen. Israel has also not done enough to protect civilians. »
