How Anti-Trans Bills ‘Create Political Refugees in the United States’

A record number of bills attacking trans-American rights have advanced in Republican-led states across the country. Imara Jones, founder of TransLash Media and president of the Transgender Law Center, says these bills have already been devastating to the mental and physical health of the trans community. The bills target everything from health care, bathroom access, ID laws and eligibility to play sports. The Republicans’ rhetoric initially focused on children (who wouldn’t benefit from the gender-affirming care they want to prevent them from anyway), but now the bills extend to adults as well.
