Instagram head Adam Mosseri announced that some content will no longer be recommended to users due to its new political content limitations. Users will still be able to view this content from followed accounts, but the app will not broadcast or amplify the content. This change will roll out in the coming weeks and will be applied to public accounts.
A spokesperson explains the new path, saying: “Our definition of political content is content that may relate to topics related to government or elections; for example, posts about laws, elections or social topics. These global issues are complex and dynamic, which means this definition will evolve as we continue to collaborate with the people and communities who use our platforms and with external experts to refine our approach.
