President Joe Biden does not sit down for an interview at super bowl for the second year in a row, as he continues his trend of limiting interviews and media appearances.
The White House confirmed has Variety This weekend, the president would not participate in an interview with CBS, which is broadcasting the Super Bowl nationally this year, after skipping an interview with Fox ahead of the 2023 Super Bowl broadcast.
“We hope viewers enjoy watching what they watched: the game,” White House spokesman Ben LaBolt said.
Biden participated in Super Bowl interviews with CBS and NBC ahead of the big game in 2021 and 2022, respectively. The interview has become a recent tradition in the 21st century, with then-President Donald Trump’s decision not to participate in an interview with NBC in 2018 being the most recent snub before Biden’s back-to-back snubs.
The decision not to sit down for an interview before the Super Bowl, which has been seen by about 100 million people nationwide in recent years, comes as Biden continues to make more limited media appearances ahead of the November election .
During his presidency, Biden has conducted fewer interviews than his recent predecessors and has given interviews on unconventional platforms.
In 2023, Biden conducted interviews on The Drew Barrymore Showthe SiriusXM podcast Conan O’Brien needs a friend, and the weather channel. He had a few interviews with CBS News. 60 minutes and other news programs as well.

During his successful 2020 presidential campaign, he ran a “basement campaign” with limited physical appearances, opting instead for distanced rallies and limited media appearances. The move was made following lockdowns and social distancing at the height of the coronavirus pandemic, but some believe an effective strategy could be to come back in one form or another.
The 2024 Super Bowl will air on CBS Sunday at 6:30 p.m. EST. The game will see the Kansas City Chiefs attempt to win their second straight Super Bowl and fourth overall.
