A Florida a woman, Aimee Harris, was sentenced to one month in prison and three months of home confinement in the United States for theft and sale That of President Joe Biden daughter, Ashley Biden’s diary. She was accused of selling the paper to the conservative group Project Veritas four years ago.
Manhattan Federal Court Judge Laura Taylor Swain called Harris’ actions “despicable.”
Who is Aimée Harris?
Aimee lives in Florida and had found Ashley Biden’s diary, a digital storage card, books, clothes, luggage and “anything else she could get her hands on” in an attempt to profit from it. She found them at a friend’s house in Delray Beach, Florida, in 2020. Biden’s daughter believed her belongings were safely stored there after a temporary stay in spring 2020.
Harris tearfully apologized for selling Ashley Biden’s private writings. “I don’t believe I’m above the law,” Harris said after a prosecutor asked for prison time over her repeated failure to appear for sentencing dates, saying she was concerned through the care of her two children, aged 8 and 6.
“I am a survivor of domestic violence and long-term sexual trauma,” she told the judge.
With an attorney for Ashley Biden in the courtroom, Harris apologized to the president’s daughter, expressing regret for making his personal life public. She is due to report to prison in July. As she left the courthouse, she declined to comment.
Why did Aimee Harris sell Ashley Biden’s diary?
In August 2022, Harris pleaded guilty to a conspiracy charge, admitting that she received $20,000 of the $40,000 paid by Project Veritas for Ashley Biden’s personal items. She and a co-defendant, Robert Kurlander, a native of Jupiter, Florida, had also attempted to sell Ashley Biden’s assets to President Donald Trump’s 2020 presidential campaign.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Robert Sobelman argued for a prison sentence, saying Aimee “wanted to harm Ms. Biden’s father” and did so to make a profit.
